Normal brain changes throughout the lifespan can alter how we learn. One type of intelligence increases while the other decreases. This can begin as early as 30 years of age. Our non-traditional students often believe they are less competent because many times they do not learn in the same way as their younger classmates. Understanding these brain changes can help us support students of all ages by empowering them to recognize and use their strengths in their academic careers.
