After 10+ years of credit card sign-ups, I have taken my family of 4 on more than 50 trips using points and miles. Some have been small weekend outings; others were two weeks in Europe. This was possible on a teacher's salary, due to credit card sign-up bonuses. Flights, hotels and rental cars can be paid for using points by leveraging good credit and paying off balances each month.
